I want everyone to check out Every Day Paleo today. Vilas told me about this website at Urban Pl8 and what he said on my facebook wall sums it up quite nicely: “The author is a crossfit trainer and a mom of 3; her argument is that ‘I’m (as) busy as anyone else and yet I am able to eat paleo, eat healthy, (and) cook up meals that don’t require a lot of time’. So if she can do it, we really have no excuses :p”. Quite true ,Vilas, quite true.
Here at the Siegel homestead we’ll be having a Paleo/Primal/Gluten Free option in addition to the traditional Thanksgiving fare. For instance we’ll be making an paleo apple and sausage stuffing as well as our usual cornbread stuffing. Chipotle sweet potatoes rather than mashed potatoes and both an apple pie and a primal pumpkin flan. Are you adapting your recipes at Thanksgiving to paleo, or giving the day a pass?

Got this from a friend and I’d love to share it with you!
A Prayer Of Thanksgiving
Max Coots
Let us give thanks…
For generous friends…with hearts as big as hubbards
and smiles as bright as their blossoms;
For feisty friends as tart as apples;
For continuous friends, who, like scallions and cucumbers, keep reminding us we had them;
For crotchety friends, as sour as rhubarb and as indestructible;
For handsome friends, who are as gorgeous as eggplants and as elegant as a row of corn — and the others — as plain as potatoes, and so good for you.
For funny friends, who are as silly as brussels sprouts and as amusing as Jerusalem artichokes, and serious friends as complex as cauliflowers and as intricate as onions;
For friends as unpretentious as cabbages, as subtle as summer squash, as persistent as parsley, as delightful as dill, as endless as zucchini, and who — like parsnips — can be counted on to see you through the long winter;
For old friends, nodding like sunflowers in the evening-time, and young friends coming on as fast as radishes;
For loving friends, who wind around as like tendrils, and hold us despite our blights, wilts, and witherings;
And finally, for those friends now gone, like gardens past, that have been harvested – but who fed us in their times that we might have life thereafter;
For all these we give thanks.
Thanks guys for making CFSS such a wonderful place to be!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy b-day, Nate! Thx for your great coaching and being an all-around great guy!
Have a great day!
I have to make it in to CFSS today or I’ll explode!
Mi va a explotar la cabeza!
hope everyone has a great holiday season. Im taking a break from CF during the cold season coming up. I’ll be seeing you guys late Feb or early Mar.
Bo, what do you mean during the cold season coming up? It was 68 degrees yesterday! Tsk Tsk!
I can relate … I used to always take winter breaks and after last year, I will never do it again. Gained too much fat, got lazy… realllllly lazy. I never hired a personal trainer and had to do so to motivate me to get out of the house to work out. Spent wayyyyy too much money. I can’t stand the cold weather and I’d rather be home cuddled up on my couch then running out in the cold but I’ve made a decision to stay healthy & sane (working out is a therapy for me) …. Sooooo, if you can’t come to us at least once a week, hope you’re still working out on your own. I couldn’t imagine how it feels to take several months break from CF and coming back having to ‘relearn’ all the movements. See you soon!
GA: Love it!
Paul: Im on Everyday Paleo site ALL THE TIME. Have tried the Collard Greens, Chicken Rutabaga stuff, egg cupcakes, & many other things. She’s awesome and coming out with a recipe book early next year. The Pumpkin Flan sounds super yummy, I know how to make flan & I’m curious to know how you guys are making the pumpkin flan. I’ve made all kind of flavors but never thought to make Pumpkin. Please do share
I’m definitely going to cheat on Turkey Day.
Thanks for the early b-day wishes Fred, means a lot brotha!
We’ll miss you Bo. Don’t do too many bicep curls!
Thanks for the word-smithing Paul! Anyone else in love with this weather? I’ve actually been doing a lot of running, believe it or not..ughh
Happy Thanksgiving to you all
Hey Paul – tried to send you an email, but it bounced. Got a new address you can send me?
@Wade: Paul’s email is pasiegel01@gmail.com.
Nate, happy birthday in advance! Thanks for being a source of inspiration in our lives
“Well, I’m against ageing. It has nothing to recommend. You don’t gain any wisdom as the years go by. You fall apart, is what happens. People try and put a nice varnish on it, and say, well, you mellow. You come to understand life and accept things. But you’d trade all of that for being 35 again” – Woody Allen
I’m out of town till saturday so I’ll see you all next week.
Thanks Vilas! Happy Thanksgiving!
OMG! Chace, thank you for your exceptional training today! You are the bomb!
